St. John’s Altar and Rosary Society Meeting

August 13, 2014

The meeting was called to order by President Melissa Brown at 6:57 pm with an opening prayer. There were 10 members in attendance. Minutes from April meeting were read by Wendy Paul and were approved. Treasurer’s report was read by Teri Boone and were approved.

Unfinished Business:

Diane Nesbitt thanked everyone for pies donated to Woodhull Fun Days. She reported that 50 pies were donated and they raised >$800.

New Business:

Chicken Dinner is Sunday, September 28. Betty Minteer, Diane Nesbitt, and Jolene O’Toole met to go over list of workers and revisions were made. Diane Nesbitt and Angie VanDeWalle are co-chairs this year. Motion made and passed to have adult and children 4-12 ticket prices listed on flyer but will not list “3 and under free” but will remain free. Motion made and passed to increase to 2 small pieces of chicken in kids meal for drive-up and free meal will have 1 piece of chicken. We will also add cupcakes that will be placed in child’s meal and that children can pick from pie table.

Vicki Johnson is closing flower shop and will no longer be providing flowers for parish. She said we can still get plants and we will continue to do this.

September 14 is going to be Ice Cream Social for parish to start celebration of 50th year of the groundbreaking of St. John’s. It will be coordinated with 1st CCD class. The plan will to serve hot dogs, chips, and homemade ice cream.

Motion made and passed that Altar Rosary Society will pay for postage for the card fronts that are sent to St. Jude Hospital.

Jean Mileham reported that Lions Club will be having Coats for Kids for kids in AlWood school district that need winter gear (coats, hats, gloves, etc). Trees will be in Woodhull and Alpha branches of Farmers State Bank and at the library in October with sizes/needs listed. After closing prayer, meeting was adjourned at 8:08pm.
